Three sections of notes, a page about the site and a way to write to me.

Skin Treatments

Close your eyes and touch the patch that bothers you. That one gesture sorts this whole section.

If your fingertip catches on something, a dip, a ridge, a rough stretch, you're dealing with texture. If the skin feels smooth and the problem is only what you see in the mirror, you're dealing with colour. Clinics sell needling, PRP and peels under a dozen names, but nearly every question readers send me about them comes back to that split, and the wrong half of it is where money disappears.

I've watched other parents from the school gate pay for a course aimed at texture when their marks were flat, and the reverse. Nobody lied to them. Nobody asked them to close their eyes and feel first either.

Gloved hand holding a steel microneedling pen against the cheek of a woman lying with her eyes closed.

Where each page fits

Your finger finds texture.

  • Microneedling for Acne Scars goes through the scar shapes one at a time, because a rolling dip and a narrow pit behave like different problems under the needle.
  • Is PRP Worth Adding to Microneedling? is for when a clinic has quoted you the plain version and the one with your own blood spun into it, and you're trying to decide if the gap is worth paying.

Your finger finds nothing, and the mark is still there.

  • Treating Dark Spots and Sun Damage is the one I'd read slowly if your skin tans more than it burns. The treatment can leave its own mark on skin like that, and a careful provider plans around it.

You've already decided and the worry is the bill.

Series, sun and the ride home

Almost everything here comes in rounds spread over weeks. That changes how I'd judge any of it: not by the first visit, and not by how your face feels the morning after, which is usually tight, warm and a bit raw. Judge it at three months.

It also means sun becomes part of the treatment. Freshly needled or peeled skin that spends the afternoon at a bus stop in July is working against you. Book the sessions for the darker months if you can, carry a hat either way, and get a straight answer from the provider about how long to stay careful afterwards.

For the practical side, the city posts schedules, closures and street notices on The Official Website of City of Union City, NJ - Home, which is worth a glance before you book a week when a detour could leave you standing outside longer than planned. And if you're checking whether a place you've heard about has only just opened, Union City Patch.am - What you need to know today: Free Newsletter, Local News, Events & Calendar tends to mention new storefronts. That tells you a business exists. It says nothing about the hands doing the work.

Before you pick a page

Do the fingertip test first, tonight, in decent light. Then read the page that matches what you felt, write down what didn't make sense, and bring that list to someone qualified who can look at your skin in person. None of these treatments promises a particular result, and a provider who talks as though they do is someone to walk away from.

For an in-person look at your skin without going far, Ethos Aesthetics + Wellness Hoboken is a short bus ride away and a fair place to bring that list.

Pages in this section

  • PRP Facial Cost and Sessions

PRP facials are sold per session and bought as a series. What the draw and spin actually add to the bill, and why stopping at two costs the most.
  • Treating Dark Spots and Sun Damage

On deeper skin tones, the treatment for a dark spot can create a darker one. How to tell a cautious provider from a confident one before you book.
  • Is PRP Worth Adding to Microneedling?

PRP is an add-on to microneedling, not a rival treatment. Whether the extra step earns its place depends on what you're treating and what you'd spend instead.
  • Microneedling for Acne Scars

Microneedling helps some acne scars a lot and others barely at all. The shape of the scar decides that, and half of what people call scarring isn't scarring.
